Hazel was born in Worcestershire out of the only litter her mother Willow will ever have due to a problem, which I thought was there but the Vet assured me would be fine, but was not !
Hazel as a puppy of about 6 weeks was a little cracker, but at 4 months was an ugly duckling, her head was almost a triangular shape with the most pronounced occiput, but as her head had been nice as a 6 and 7 week old puppy I was prepared to give it time to change. This decision paid off as she now has a very pretty bitch head.
Hazel was knocked for her head shape early in her show career, but some forgave her the head for her overall construction and movement. But she did manage some good placings at both Championship and Open Shows and has gained her Stud Book Number.
Hazel has produced some lovely puppies some of which have done well both in the show ring and in the field.
Hazel herself excels in the shooting field as a Picking-up dog and is fantastic at marking down wounded game at a distance and retrieving it to hand.
Her brother Frankie [Purbarn Nuts In A Fruit Cake] owned by Tomas & Lisbeth Larson in Sweden is a Blood Tracking Champion.
In 2007 Hazel was mated to Sh Ch Erinderry Just The Ticket from Bluewaters JW. This mating produced Chris & Maria Eels's bitch Tweed [Purbarn River Tweed at Gushigun] who has acieved placings at both Campionship and Open Shows. Tweed produced her first litter, which makes it the 14th genaration down from a Purbarn bitch in May 2010 and they used their own Sky [Purbarn Orange Night Sky at Gushigun], so very much Purbarn lines behind the line.
Also in Hazel's 1st litter there was Jackie Millington's Archie [Purbarn River Clwyd,] who has had great sucssess around the Open Shows [sadly she has never taken him to a Champ Show]
In 2009 Hazel had a litter to our Drizzle and this produced 6 bitches, of which we kept one namely Flury ['P' Tell's Of Snow Flury's] who has done extremely well in the show ring gaining her Junior Warrant before she was 13 months old.
Although Hazel was one of our palest Golden's here till we kept her daughter Flury, she has darkened with each molt and now is a lovely pale wedding ring colour.
The mating that produced Flury has been repeated in 2010.
