We went all the way down to Saltash in Cornwall to see the litter that Val Brown had by our Rain and decided we would like one of the Bitch Puppies and we picked her up 2 weeks later.We had thought we would call her Gale, but this was too close to Hail so not wanting to confuse her we called her Willow instead.

She did quite well during her puppy classes, but seemed to be taking her time to mature.By the time she was 18 months she had started to mature and it was decided we would mate her the following year.This turned out to be a nightmare, as I had detected what I thought was a very bad stricture. I took her to the Vet to get it checked out. This Vet was not my normal Vet and he told me everything was fine.
But it was not ! As when we took her to the chosen Stud Dog he got stuck in her Not Tied ! The following day I demanded to see my normal Vet who exclaimed that it was a stricture and probably the worst he had ever felt. So the worrying started, knowing that if there were any puppies from that one and only mating we would have to have a C-section to get them out. Eventually 7 beautiful puppies were delivered by C-section. Needles to say I will not put her through that again and we will never breed from her again, but we kept one bitch puppy namely.
Hazel [Purbarn Nuts Hole Hazel Nuts], who has gained her Stud Book No: and is also a fantastic picking up dog and has produced us some fabulous puppies.
Hazel's litter brother Frankie [Purbarn Nuts In A Fruit Cake] went to Sweden to Lisbeth & Tomas Larson and is now a Blood Tracking Champion.

Willow took her first CC under Ann Orzel at Yorkshire GRC. her second was under Irene Holloway at Eastern Counties GRC [a day we will never forget as her father Rain took the Dog CC & went BIS and Willow took RBIS]. She then gained 2 RCC's one under Sue Almey at Bath Champ and the other under Lyn Anderson at Midland GRC. But her 3rd CC was not far away and under Penny Beauchamp at WELKS in 2010 where she was made into our 1st Show Champion. We are now trying to get her to swim in a pond and retrieve, she can swim and will swim and retrieve a dummy in a Hydrotherapy Pool but at the moment refuses to go out of her depth anywhere else.
You can teach an old dog new tricks and I am determined to try. So watch this space !
Willow has a will to please and is a great asset to my picking up team, when on dry land. She is also very gentle with the runners never wanting to hert them.
